When installing the road plates, they must be cut into the road surface adjacent to the excavation to be covered and shall not project more that 6mm above the general existing road surface level when in position.
The modular road plates must be installed with the longest side traversing the excavation. The cut back portion of the recess for the installation and anchored section of the road plate(s) should be filled with a suitable cold set material after the road plate has been installed. Where 2 or more road plates are installed the longitudinal v section created by adjacent edges must also be filled with cold set material for the safety of two wheeled vehicles.
The following method of installation has proved to be satisfactory in service for asphalt and other concrete surfaces. Fixing anchors, these are best suited to installation into bituminous and concrete surfaces. The anchors comprise a 10mm hexagon head set screw which has an expanding 100mm sleeve. Anchors and screws must be plated to prevent corrosion.
